April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player from America is part of a select set of women who've received medals from many Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal, along with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross is determined to earn something more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be her last opportunity to accomplish this. But she is confident that most prestigious prizes are just a few steps away. Ross has told NBC Boston that he believes if they play their top, or even one of their best games, they will be able to win gold. Also, I'll take some chance. Ross born in 1982, and lived within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing sports at the Newport Harbor High school. When she was at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of sports. Apart from indoor volleyball, she played tennis and also jogged track when she was an athlete in the pre-professional stage. She clearly was the top player in indoor volleyball. In her high school volleyball career in her college information, she played as middle blocker, outside setter and hitter. The effort was recognized with her being named the 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. She also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Though Ross and Klineman are a couple from 2017 onward, the former was already a big-time participant on the beaches way before they teamed up. She's won big tournaments twice with different partners. The other has become an icon of the world of volleyball. Between 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently worked as Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the world circuit, winning an overall world title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal from the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor decided to retire. They were awarded the bronze medal at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics the year 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated in high school. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was one of the best. Her achievements included an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans in reaching the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore season and yet she came back as an All-American. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the top of the hill, capturing multiple national championships. In her own way, she had established her place as a legend by winning in 2003 and 2004 the Honda Sports Award as the best female volleyball player. Ross was a international relations major at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter reach the very top in beach volleyball's acclaim. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. She still cherishes her mother who died. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her both on and off the beach.
